While most of the community celebrations have been canceled or postponed for 2020 due to COVID-19, the fireworks displays to celebrate the Fourth of July are still scheduled.
The city of Jefferson is partnering with Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson for a fireworks display on Saturday. The show will take place at dusk behind the casino building near the intersection of Highways 30 and 4.
The event is free and open to the public. The casino parking lot will be available for vehicles and pedestrians. Officials urge everyone to practice social distancing against further spread of COVID-19 during the event.
Yale is not hosting its traditional celebration but will start the three-day weekend with fireworks on Friday night, July 3. The ball diamond is the setting for the launch of a large amount of fireworks. Look to the sky at dusk for their bright lights and loud bangs.
Lake Panorama offers a spectacular show over the water. The annual “Fire in the Sky” fireworks display is sanctioned by the Lake Panorama Association and put on by the Scheiring family. It will begin at dusk on Saturday, July 4. The fireworks will be set off from the traditional spot at Shady Beach.
Many businesses and individuals have contributed to the annual event that will start at dusk on Saturday. If you would like to make a donation for the show, please mail donations to: Rita Scheiring, P.O. Box 605, Panora, IA 50216.
For safety reasons, the LPA Lake Patrol and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources require boats anchored during the fireworks to have running lights on display.
Coon Rapids is hosting its annual fireworks display from the City Park, starting at dusk on Saturday. Due to COVID-19, the other traditional activities are cancelled. Please abide by social distancing as you watch the fireworks.
